The FTC’s case against Microsoft’s Activision acquisition is not going well | Vox

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard are overcoming hurdles to their $69 billion dollar mergerIf the merger goes through, Microsoft will be one of the largest gaming companies in the worldThe FTC attempted to block the transaction due to antitrust concerns, but a federal judge denied the request for injunction to pause the merger before trial.  While this is a win for Microsoft and Activision, they still have to get approval from the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority, who has already denied approval due to the same antitrust concerns.  Microsoft has appealed the denial and is scheduled for a hearing in front of the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Microsoft will become the third-largest gaming company in the world, behind Tencent and Sony, if the deal goes through.
