Major League Baseball expanded its broadcast department as it readjusts following the bankruptcy of the Diamond Sports Group’s regional sports networks by hiring Josh Clark this month to a new position of senior vice president of content distribution. Clark’s job entails reporting to Kenny Gersh, MLB’s executive vice president of media and business development. Additionally, he will oversee distribution agreements for local media including the MLB Network and Extra Innings cable package.
After operating 19 regional sports networks under the Bally Sports name, Diamond’s companies filed for bankruptcy protection in March. MLB is on the mission to gain rights to more teams for the next season after obtaining broadcasts of San Diego Padres games and Arizona Diamondback games.
