Rules/Acts: Section 523(a)(5) and Section 523(a)(15)

Subsection (15) holds spouses accountable for their family and spousal obligations; it prevents spouses from filing for bankruptcy in order to discharge payments ordered by the family court. However, a spouse may need to file a bankruptcy proceeding to uphold this right.
